The positive aspects and drawbacks of air conditioning systems

Once most of us considers concerning air conditioning fees in our minds instantly thinks of our residence or our workplace on hot summer days. A lot of us look at air conditioning as a suggests to help us to endure the summer season heat, and disregard the relevance of air conditioning systems operating in the winter.

Air conditioning – the most secure way to heat your dwelling

Every winter weather we listen to in the advertising regarding domestic accidents which involved a heating indicates: a heater tank was remaining unattended, creating a fire, warmth submerge by mistake, leading to a flare-up covered, radiator and induced short-circuit. At best, these mishaps end with property damage only. But rather a few accidents resulting in serious accidents even with casualties.
In contrast to any various heating signifies no air conditioning programs provider are the most secure signifies of heating system. Air conditioning programs with no dread of a flare-up of fabric or newspaper nearby. We can rest with the air conditioners are on all night with no any fear. And air conditioning programs to minimize electrical fires probability is almost nil. Therefore, individuals who put in him in his dwelling air moisturizing hair product to help cool the house through the summer time, he could use it as a protected and efficient heating system for the duration of the winter weather months.

Air conditioning – heat up everything, and cheaply!sturdy>
Compared to other means of heating, air conditioners are also the most affordable signifies of energy. The main dilemma with the other implies of heating (similar to heat diffusers, heating units coils, various kinds of fireplaces, electrical sheets, etc.) is the radius of their low heat. As you move away from them so that they heat less. Thus, to heat a large space or a number of bedrooms at once, we run numerous appliances. This increases our power intake and monthly expenses.
In distinction, air conditioning systems are more cost-effective electricity. When we warmth the room by way of the air conditioner, we can enjoy heat, constant heat all through the space, also if we transfer away of the air moisturizing hair product vents. Air conditioners, particularly air conditioners and engineering stock, allow to heat the room temp uniform in all its parts. Air conditioners leading engineering stock financial savings of 30% – 50% energy. Increased Efficiency = Lower Energy!
Costs Studies shown cleaning air conditioners will result in 25% lower energy costs! This is the main reason why duct cleaning is worthwhile for you. Air duct cleaners cost you between 400$ – 1000$ but save you much more in the long run.

Significant spaces are heated by air conditioners (like offices, for instance) with no any chance of air turnover, make it all inhale and exhale the same air. One individual adequate person, propagates the micro organism nearly the room with just about every sneeze, to hold an complete class. For that reason, when using air conditioning techniques for heating big spaces and even desirable should periodically ventilate the space by starting a window.

Are Geothermal Heat Pumps Far Superior?

Posted: July 28th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: HVAC | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

What Makes Geothermal Energy a Better Choice in heating?

Cost Effective

A geothermal heat pump system will set you back about $2,500 per ton of capacity, or about $7,500 for a 3-ton unit which is a typical home size.

If you were to by an A/C or other systems you would be out of pocket in the $4,000 range.

So you have less up front costs, but on a retrofitted, geothermal HVAC unit you will have much lower utility bills, allowing you to recouped your cost in 2-10 years depending on the area you live in. You might even be able to recoup some of your cost by checking with our local utility companies to see if they offer rebate programs on high efficiency geothermal systems. You will save up to 70% on your home or office energy bills.

Durability

Geothermal heat pumps are made to withstand the elements, and the warranties can extend out over 20 years for some parts. On average Geothermal heat pumps require less up keep.

Year-Round Comfort

A Geothermal heat pump works the same as heating and cooling HVAC’s. However it is a silent system that keeps you comfortable in all seasons, and can improve humidity control in your home environment without needing a humidifier.

Quiet Operation

Geothermal heat pumps use no outside condensing units, and without hot or cold air being blown in there are no load fans to contend with.

geothermal heating systemsbad things about geothermal heat pumps

Geothermal Heat Pumps Far Superior

Few people are even aware that geothermal heat pumps are even an option when it comes to their heating and cooling needs. Most of us are aware that electric heat pumps are available but the new generation of geothermal units are just now gaining popularity. These state-of-the-art heat pumps provide the same continuous and even heat or cooling just like the electric pumps but they are far more efficient at doing so. So, if you are in need of a new heating/cooling system for you home or business, here are some reasons to consider purchasing a geothermal heat pump.

Let’s face itthe environment is becoming a bigger and bigger issue for everyone. We are all looking for ways to use less energy and pollute less. Geothermal heat pumps are simply the most environmentally friendly heating and cooling units available today. Plus, no system can rival a geothermal heat pump when it comes to energy efficiency or cost effectiveness. So, not only are these heat pumps environmentally friendly, they ultimately cost less to operate and consume less energy while doing so.

geothermal heating and cooling, advantages of geothermal energy, geothermal cooling, geothermal systems,
However, it is also very true that geothermal heat pumps will cost you more to purchase and install than other options. However, depending on the location and the cost of the other heating/cooling option, geothermal heat pumps will recover those added up-front costs within 6 or 7 years. After that point has been reached, geothermal heat pumps will save you money over the other heating/cooling options each and every single year it is in use. In the long run, these new age heating and cooling units will prove to be the most cost effective option available.

Geothermal heat pumps cool your home in the summer by removing excess heat and humidity from the home. This heat is then transferred to the earth where it naturally dissipates. The process is much quieter and less obtrusive than found in conventional heat pumps.

In the winter, geothermal units heat your home by forcing fluid through pipes buried in the ground. This fluid picks up radiant heat coming from the ground. The heat absorbed by the liquid is then compressed within geothermal heat pumps in order to raise the temperature. The heat is then distributed throughout your home.

Geothermal heat pumps also offer the added advantage of providing homeowners with free or drastically reduced hot water. This savings alone can add up to hundreds, potentially thousands, of dollars during the lifetime of a geothermal heat pump.

Although geothermal heat pumps are more expensive to purchase and install, they become the less expensive heating and cooling option as time progresses. Therefore, even if you are planning to move in the next few years but need a heating/cooling system right away, geothermal heat pumps may prove to be true selling points later on down the road. So, no matter what your plans for your home, installing a geothermal heat pump will always be a wise investment and provide you many worry-free years of heating and cooling comfort.

CoolStep: a New Innovation in Walkable Roofing, Waterproof Flooring

Skyline Building Systems, a manufacturer of walkable roofing and outdoor surfaces, announces CoolStep: a new product that will reduce the surface temperature of roofing and outdoor flooring. The product is the only waterproof membrane currently on the market with a 20-year warranty and Cool Roof Rating.

Calgary, Alberta (PRWEB) June 3, 2010 –

Skyline Building Systems Inc., a manufacturer of walkable roofing and outdoor waterproof flooring, is proud to announce the arrival of its newest member, CoolStep, to the DecTec family of brands. According to Grant Lawton, Business Development Manager for DecTec Products, “CoolStep, which has been in development for the past three years, is a natural evolution of our exterior waterproof flooring and walkable roofing products. Given the recent trends in energy awareness and sustainability,” Lawton continues, “Consumers are demanding more and more from the products they incorporate into their homes, and that demand must be met by both Design Professionals and Manufacturers.”

“The primary benefit of CoolStep, is just as the name implies, it stays cool to walk on in bare feet, even under extreme, full exposure sun” says Lawton. “We have all stepped out onto a balcony or deck that has been in hot, direct sun, no matter whether it was a painted on product, paver blocks or a composite wood, only to perform the hot foot shuffle back to safety.”

Unlike typical deck products, the color and composition properties of CoolStep actually reduce the surface temperature which is achieved by the product reflecting the sun’s rays and emitting the heat back into the sky instead of absorbing it and ultimately transferring it down to the building below.

The secondary feature of CoolStep’s reflective properties is a substantial one.

Lawton explains, “If your deck is also acting as a roof over living space, CoolStep can assist in reducing the interior temperature in the area located beneath it, thus lowering the energy consumption, and resulting cost, for air conditioning. This type of application is known as Cool Roofing.”

“Building Codes now incorporate many environmental standards and Cool Roofing is a prime example,” he adds, “The Standard is based on stringent criteria established by the Cool Roof Rating Council, (www.coolroofs.org), an independent, credible Organization which has become an essential resource for both the public, Building Product Manufacturers, and the Design and Construction Industries. We are very proud to be the first in our category to meet the criteria and have CoolStep listed as a product conforming to the requirements of the CRRC.”

Skyline has consistently been the industry innovator with their DecTec line of waterproof flooring and walkable roofing products. CoolStep, the only waterproof balcony membrane on the market with not only a Cool Roof Rating but a one-of-kind 20 Year Warranty ensures that the tradition of leading the industry continues.

About Skyline
Through our DecTec Brand of membranes, Skyline provides proven waterproofing and roofing solutions for balcony and roof-deck applications. As North America’s leading innovator in pedestrian traffic bearing membranes, our products provide a proven, low maintenance and low life-cycle cost solution with over 40 years of real-life roofing manufacturing behind each and every one of them. DecTec commercial-grade membranes, coupled with industry leading system accessories and components make water intrusion problems on deck areas a thing of the past.

troubleshooting heatpump problems

Got Heat Pump Problems?

Top Guide About

Troubleshooting Heat Pumps Problems

Is your heat pump in a need for repair? Are you facing heat pump problems? If yes, then go through this article to understand the tips for troubleshooting heat pumps.

Heat Pump Problems : troubleshooting heat pumps
Heat pumps are the mechanical devices that are configured for transferring heat from one location ( source ) to another ( sink ). In the majority of the cases, heat pumps draw heat either from the atmospheric air or from under the Earth’s surface. The former type is known as air source heat pump, while the second machinery is called geothermal heat pump. Heat pumps serve for both cooling and heating the home in extreme environmental conditions.

The technology of heat pump is used in some home appliances such as heating system, freezers and air conditioners. A heat pump works by consuming a small amount of energy for transferring heat from an area with low temperature to another with a higher temperature. It is more energy efficient in comparison to heating and cooling devices like furnaces and ACs. Nevertheless like other machinery, there are certain heat pump issues, that might arise over a period. Let’s discuss in detail about troubleshooting heat pumps.

Troubleshooting Heat Pump issues

A short knowledge about the parts of a heat pump will help in a straightforward diagnosis of the heat pump Problems. The basic parts include an evaporator ( circulating fans ), reversing valve, condenser ( refrigerator coil ) and a compressor. Prior to starting with heat pump troubleshooting, turn off the power supply at the main circuit breaker. Following are just some of the common heat pump issues and methods to troubleshoot them :

No Heat Production : If there is not any heat production, then the difficulty may be due to failure in the main power supply or overloading of the motor. In order to troubleshoot this malfunction, check the power supply and thermostat and fix them ( when necessary ). In case there’s power supply, reset the motor by pressing the reset button. Also, check the ignition of the heat pump for any defects. If none of these tips work, then you can hire a professional for proper fixation.

Inadequate Heat Production : insufficient heat production is one of the major heat pump issues. In most cases, it is caused due to obstructions in the air ducts. Other reasons for this defect could be low thermostat setting and presence of dust in the air filters. You can check these systems whether or not they are working properly or not.

Low and high Head Pressure : A heat pump issue with low head pressure can be caused by a scarcity of refrigerant, damage of the compressor and soiled evaporator. On the contrary, high head pressure regularly results from overfeeding of the refrigerant and soiled condenser. Watch these systems and recheck whether the heat pumps start working normally or not.

Freezing of Heat pump : Freezing of the heat pump unit may be caused thanks to a faulty air blower or accumulation of dust and mud in the filters and evaporators. For fixing this problem, check for the defrosting option in your heat pump unit. If there is, you can defrost it and check the compressor for any defects. Do not forget to check the calibration of the thermostat.

Noisy Heat Pump : noisy functioning of the heat pumps is caused because of the reasons like loose screws, unacceptable fixation of the belts and noise from the air channels. To fix and troubleshoot this malfunction, you can tighten the screws, check the belts and introduce a plastic insulation within the metal air channels.

All About Air Conditioner Rentals

Posted: January 25th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: HVAC | Tags: , , | No Comments »

An air conditioner is a requirement in households, factories as well as events, functions etc. However, you cannot expect the person to install a new air conditioner for a one-day event. Even if you want to install an air conditioner at your place during the summer months and do not want to make such a big investment, then air conditioner rentals are the best thing for you. These are companies, which provide air conditioners on rent for a short term or a long-term basis. There are two types of Air conditioners that you can rent. The window Air conditioner is the more common variety used widely across the world and you also have a portable air conditioner, which can be moved, according to your preference.

The window air conditioner is the type, which is installed on your window. These are excellent for household usage or for small offices etc. You can easily get an air conditioner on rent at discounted prices during the hot summer months. When you contact an air conditioner rentals company, a representative will visit your place and inspect the room where the Air conditioner needs to be installed. He/she will then suggest what tonnage will be required for your room. The rent often differs according to the tonnage. Then you need to fill up the form and the company representatives will come with a carpenter, install the frame then the Air conditioner and finally will seal all the gaps (if any) between the air conditioner and the frame. Portable air conditioners can be rented according to their tonnage. They range from 2.5 to 30 tones. They can be used and then moved on their wheeled casters. If you rent this one for a house, you can use and then move it to a different room if needed.

The author used to work in one of those roofing companies in Auckland. He’s a roofing specialist. And he’s also good at installing air conditioners as well as hot water cylinders.

Central Air Conditioning Systems

Your thermostat should be properly calibrated. The proper refrigerant charge will provide longer equipment life, lower your utility bills and reduce the need for air conditioning service. The benefit of a clean condenser coil is proper heat rejection, reduced run time and lower energy bills. A dirty air conditioning condenser can lead to system failure and the need for you air conditioner to be repaired. As your air conditioning system removes heat from your home, humidity is extracted from the air.

You might not know it, but something changed in 2006 that will affect the choice of products available to you when it comes time to replace your Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment. That is an increase in efficiency of 30% from air conditioners that were 10 SEER, and an increase of 38% for a furnace that had an AFUE of 50%. Many of the systems available today are actually much more efficient than the government has mandated, giving you the potential of substantial savings on utility bills.

Below are some tips to keep your homes comfy and units working to their potential. They will be able to tell you very quickly whether or not you can get away with a small model when it comes to central air conditioning installation . Change the filters every 30-60 days. Rinse off the outside unit. You don’t want dirt and debris building up in the outside unit, so it’s best to clean this every few months. Use blinds and curtains where you can.

When the weather starts heating up and reaching the sweltering level, most people want nothing more than a cool place to relax and escape from the scorching heat. When thinking about purchasing a home, again especially in the warmer climes, it is a good idea to carefully examine the existing air conditioning system in the home. There are a number of different types of central air conditioning units available for homes.

Choosing The Best Pool Installation Kits

Posted: May 7th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: HVAC | Tags: | No Comments »

Your best bet may be an above ground pool if you want a pool but want to avoid all the expense and hassle it would take to install an in ground pool. The installation of an above ground pool is much less expensive and time consuming than installing an in ground pool. It is also a much wiser choice for a homeowner who would like to do the job themselves.

Modern above ground swimming pools can be found in a wide selection of sizes and shapes but the most popular are round and oval. You can experiment with the right size and shape for your yard by laying out a garden hose in the desired location and shape and then measure the diameter. This will give you a clear picture of the space the pool will take and how much room you will have to swim around. You should also leave the hose in place over a few days and watch how the light hits it during different times of day. This will give you a good idea if this is a good place to install your pool. The pool will need to get sunlight in order to heat the water.

Once you know the approximate shape and size for your new above ground pool you should check with your local government to see if permits are required. Each area will have its own rules and regulations that you need to be aware of. You can save lots of trouble down the road if you have all the correct permits before you install your pool. You should also contact your homeowners insurance to see if any changes need to be made to your policy when you add a pool.

The best place to shop for an above ground pool is over the internet. This makes it possible for you to see many different retailers without driving all over town. Keep track of options and style that you like as you look through the online stores so you can order just what you need. To learn more about how much it costs to install a pool.

How to Move Without the Pain

Posted: May 7th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: HVAC | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

The old days, when everyone stayed in the towns where they were born, have long gone. Today we are all connected, by telephone, internet and television, with just about everywhere else in the world and living in this modern world means being able to move from one place to another.

People move for a whole host of reasons. For many people the first time they move home is when they head off to college. Or maybe joining the armed forces. But when young people head off to college or to take a position in the armed forced they generally need nothing more than a bag full of clothes. It will be later in life when they need to move to take up that cool new job, and they now have a family with all the encumberances that come with age, that moving home suddenly becomes a logistical nightmare.

So here are a few suggestions that will hopefully help you to alleviate some of the stress of moving home.

Firstly, get yourself organised. This means listing your stuff as you pack it into boxes and then labelling those boxes clearly. The last thing you want is to be at your new location desperately trying to find the box in which you packed your children’s clothes or the kettle.

Secondly, be sure that you have enough cartons for all your stuff. You will doubtless be packing late into the night and you’ll never find additional cartons at that time so make certain you have enough.

Thirdly, the most important thing you should do is use the services of a professional removals company who are experienced in your type of move. So if you are moving to another country select a removals firm who are experienced in moving people to that particular country. If you are moving to a particular city, try and find a firm who have moved people to that city before. It may be sensible to use a removals firm who are based in your destination city as they will be more familiar with the streets, the parking restrictions and other important aspects of your move.

Another reason to use a professional moving company is that they will often provide you with those essential cartons and they’ll even give you some advice on packing.

The worst thing you can do is leave everything until the last minute. Planning and forethought are the best ways to avoid stress and aggravation. Moving office, in particular, can be very stressful so when moving so do a little thinking and a little preparation and your move should be painless and swift.

Relax Yourself With A Backyard Pond

Posted: April 20th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: HVAC | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

When we were kids, it was normal to think that a family with a backyard pond is a very lucky or very rich family. Now it is clear to all of us that we can have a backyard pond, we only need to have some room for it. This is not a rocket science actually, you just need to learn what the steps are and try to create your own design that you will be able to do step by step. It’s no longer a heavy burden that it once was.

These ponds are a great thing if you are after fun and enjoyment. They used to be a bigger headache than they are today, because the new technology associated with backyard ponds offer an environment that is more ecologically balanced, look completely natural, are very low maintenance, and make for an excellent habitat for fish, turtles and other wildlife. The algae growth is controlled with ease and most of them are crystal clean and clear.

It is easy to find a proffesional contractor that is willing to construct a water garden for you, or to design a cute little fish pond. Or you could go with the do it yourself route and buy each piece individually. A big plus is a pond kit that will have anything you could need, except for the place where you are going to put it all!) Putting all hassles aside, the backyard pond is a great place to be at because it offers a great tranquility.

Big number of backyard ponds is smaller in width and they are mostly placed in such a place that they can be seen from the deck or windows. Having one will provide a relaxing and pleasing view of the nature for the whole family. I bet your children would love the wildlife a new backyard pond will attract, and it surely will.

The backyard ponds I like are the ones that have a small beach built in and those that use flexible liner to get unique designs. You will get two things with this shallow graduation – birds will be able to dip in the water while the critters will freely get inside and outside. It just another way to keep your pond special, tranquil and a beautiful addition to your home.

Home Improvement Referral Service

Posted: April 20th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: HVAC | Tags: , , , , , , | No Comments »

There are more and more home improvement referral services across the US. They spend their time looking for trusted and good quality contractors that can do the work, which brings a great profit to these businesses.

It really doesn’t take much to start. A home improvement referral service business takes only a little money and not more time than a regular 40 hour a week job. They can actually start making money within the first year of business.

What you need to to first is to think about what kind of home improvement business you want to refer. By this we mean remodeling, gutter replacement and cleaning, fencing, building additions, maintaining lawn and other similar jobs. Bear in mind that not all people like to remodel if you do, and many of them simply don’t have the time to do it. Therefore, no business should be overlooked.

Once you have an idea of the types of contractors for your referral service business, you will need to call the local, county, and state government offices. Get the regulations and requirements regarding licensing, bonding, business registry, and insurance for each type of contractor. And this is just a first step in building your list. It is good to have a policy which would exclude all contractors from your list in case they do not meet the government regulations.

If you understand and start using these requirements, you will see how your refferal business will improve and you will build trust with your clients. It will be very clear to them that in case a contractor is not meeting the requirements needed, they will simply be deleted from the list. It makes the client feel more sure the job will be completed professionally and correctly.

One more way that will bring good reputation to your business is that you only deal with those contractors that did the good job with their past customers. Bear in mind that this is not the end of a screening process. The recommendations are simply not enough.

You should always check the contractors quality and level of service, when you get the recommendation to your home improvement referral business. Talk to them, explaining your referral service business. You will see that most contractors will be happy to oblige when it comes to information they need to give you. This is your home improvement referral service business and you can take it wherever you want.

Heat Pumps: What You Need To Know

Heat Pumps: What You Need To Know

Heat Pumps

Why do most people seem so confused and bewildered about heat pumps? They have been around now for at least several decades, yet the technology behind them seems to mystify so many people. So, I decided to research this subject for myself in order to tell you how – in layman’s terms – these things work

The first thing I should deal with, I guess, is the name itself: heat pumps. Why are they called that? If they are pumps, then what are they ‘pumping?’ Well, the word pump is actually very appropriate (at least to my mind), as pumps move something – water, gas, oil – from one place (like the bottom of a well) to another place (like your sink). And that’s exactly what heat pumps do: they move, or ‘pump’ heat energy. If this is a hard concept for you to grasp, here’s an illustration. Imagine letting a cup of hot tea sit awhile to cool down. Now think about it: What really happened? Well, when a hot liquid cools, the heat energy passes from the hot liquid to the air surrounding it. In other words, heat was ‘pumped’ (moved) from one location to another.

You might not realize it, but even on the coldest day outside, the air contains some heat energy. The same is true for the ground beneath our feet: it has the capacity to store, or hold, heat energy. Heat pumps simply move, or ‘pump’ heat energy from one place to another. When you use a heat pump to heat or cool a room, you are making use of this basic fact of physics.

Let’s see this in action when you decide to cool a room: You install a heat pump, and it’s warm inside. A heat pump will circulate the air in the room, capture the heat energy that is there, and transfer that heat energy outside. Because heat energy has been taken out from the room, you will feel cooler.

What do you do in the winter? Simply reverse the whole process: use your heat pump to move heat energy from the outside to your rooms inside (even when it’s cold outside there’s heat energy there, remember?). You will feel warmer in that room as a result.

One very important not: heat pumps, by themselves, do not burn fuel to add heat to a cold room – they simply move it from someplace else. This means that a heat pump is not a furnace, which burns fuel. A heat pump is an energy-transferor, not an energy-producer.

Some heat pumps are called air-source heat pumps, so called because they use the air (surrounding the unit or from a separate unit outdoors) as their source for heating and cooling.

Other types of heat pumps are called Geothermal heat pumps - they draw heat energy from the ground outside (below the frost line) to heat, or pump excess heat energy into the ground to cool. They do this by transferring heat energy through a series of coils that are buried deep in the ground. You may not realize it but below a certain depth the temperature of the ground remains fairly constant year-round.

Carbon Monixide & Mold Indoor Pollutants

What is carbon monoxide?

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas, and it is hard to detect without a carbon monoxide detector. It very efficiently and quickly reduces the amount of oxygen in the blood. Low levels over long periods of time are dangerous, and high levels can cause unconsciousness and even death. To keep your indoor air clean and healthy, make sure that fuel-burning devices are well vented.

Sources of carbon monoxide that can pollute indoor air:

  • Fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, fireplaces, gas stoves and water heaters (especially those that are not properly vented or maintained) or when chimneys are blocked or dirty;
  • Idling vehicles in garages that are attached to homes or buildings;
  • Barbecues, grills, space heaters and other non-vented fuel-burning appliances that are designed for outdoor use; and
  • Tobacco smoke.

The most common symptoms of CO poisoning are

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Weakness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Chest pain
  • Confusion

Mold Can Be More Harmful Than You Think

What is mold exactly? Is mold a plant or an animal? Believe it or not mold is neither plant nor animal but it actually is a fungus. Mold can be found on old crusty food, on walls and ceilings of your home. Mold can be found anywhere there is moisture. Mold can be made into Penicillin which has saved many lives. It is amazing how mold can be harmful and yet help save lives. Mildew is also another name for mold.

Mold is a living organism and has a very important role in our environment.

First of all, mold grows in areas that tend to have a great deal of moisture, darkness, and heat. Most areas you may find mold are bathrooms, pool areas and even in kitchen cabinets, floor tiles and even books. Mold can pretty much grow anywhere as long as its conditions are right. Mold spreads pretty fast and can take over a home if you don’t have the proper mold remover to fight against the spread of mold.

Mold spreads by reproducing or regenerating the cells which are called spores. These spores once airborne can latch on to clothes, skin, pets and even air condition filters. There is no way to keep mold spores from entering your home. The best way is to buy certain mildew or mold removal products. You can fight off the spread of mold and keep it at bay.

Mold can be very harmful to your health. Mold is very harmful to your lungs. Sometimes you don’t even realize there is mold in your house or work place. Mold is also very harmful to people with allergies and may trigger an allergy attack. Most of the time you do not realize that mold is making you sick until it is too late. Some of the symptoms are an excess of coughing and chest pains from coughing.

Some other symptoms are shortness of breath or even a scratchy throat. The only way to find out if you have a mold problem is to have your home or place of work inspected. It may be a little pricey but a mold technician can come out to your home and take some samples.

The technician will take some samples from outside and inside the home. This will determine if the mold spores in your home are growing more rapid than outside. You have a problem if the mold spores are growing more in the home rather than outside.

You can fight the outbreak of mold spores with special mold removal products.

There are also mold cleansers that block the mold spores to prevent the mold spores from coming back. One of the main ingredients in these mold spray is bleach. When buying a mold remover product check and see if it is odorless.

The odorless ones will not make your eyes tear when using them. Spray the infected areas and start scrubbing. You should repeat this process in one week’s time for a month and you will see a difference.

Mold is a very important part of our environment but can be a problem to humans as well. Mold can never be destroyed but it can be controlled. You can fight mold spores to keep the mold from spreading by using the correct mold removal products. It is so ironic that mold can help save human life and also help take it as well.

Cupola Furnace HVAC Product Locator

The cupola furnace has received a large amount of negative attention as of late.

However, the system does have a few inherent benefits over electric furnaces. One it is simple and economical to operate.Second a cupola is capable of accepting a good range of materials without reducing melt quality, so it’s recycling ability is excellent. They therefore play a vital role in the metal recycling industry. Third Cupolas can refine the metal charge, removing impurities out of the slag. This is usually because they derive energy without delay from coke instead of from electricity that first needs to be generated. The successive instead of batch process suits the demands of a repetition foundry. * Cupolas can be employed to recycle foundry spinoffs and to break other pollutants like VOC from the core-making area.

Induction Furnace And Cupola Furnace Information

In Metal Casting, the type of furnace you have at your foundry, or workshop determines a lot of the work you can or can not do. Many metal casters enjoy making their own furnaces and have done so quite successfully. The plans for home made furnaces are eagerly shared among the enthusiasts so finding blueprints and instructions should not be difficult. But before you rush off to find the blueprints you may want to take time to learn about the types of casting furnaces available to help determine which one will suit your needs. This is not saying that you should only have one furnace at any given time, but this way you will know what project will work best for which furnace.

Iron Melting Cupola Furnaces for the Small Foundry

Cupola

Cupola furnaces are among the most popular with backyard foundries. Many casters construct their own cupola which proves to be cost effective and highly efficient if done properly. Since cupola furnaces can achieve high melting temperatures they are primarily used for the melting of iron and bronze, though aluminum can also be melted when attention is paid to keeping the temperature low. The primary fuel source for cupola furnaces are coke using limestone for flux.

By not using a crucible, the Cupola furnace is able to melt the metal at a faster rate. While individual designs of these furnaces differ due to varying resources and design ideas, the basic component of a cupola furnace is the same. The cupola furnace must be elevated above the ground and installed with a drop bottom usually hinged, which will allow the excess metal, fuel source, and other waste to drop from the furnace. The tap hole and shaft which will allow the molten metal to flow from the furnace and into the ladle and air shafts are also required. A slag tap hole can be placed on the furnace usually in the back, higher then the tap hole, which will allow the slag to flow out easily.

With most small home foundries, the cupola furnaces are preferred over that of other furnaces for its high melting rates and for how easily the construction of such a furnace can be.

Reverberatory

The Reverberatory Furnaces are commonly found in industrial plants but there have been quite a number of home grown foundries that have used this furnace type with much success. The basic idea of a Reverbeatory Furnace is to use the heat reflecting off a surface, usually brick, to heat the metal, which is aluminum in most cases. This way, the metal does not come into contact with the fuel or the flame. This process is also used in Puddling Furnaces. The name Reverberatory and Puddling are often used interchangeably. By placing the metal in a shallow depression and then directing an intense flame over that depression and to the wall, the heat rebounds to melt the metal. Many casters will adjust the length of the flame since a longer path will mean that the heat will be more intense.

There are many designs for the reverberatory furnace, all of which will include exhaust ports and the rear of the furnace must be able to withstand the intense heat and be able to bounce it back into the chamber.

Bronze, aluminum, tin, and many other ores can be melted in a reverberatory furnace all depending on the construction of the actual furnace and the heat of the flame. This type of furnace has been around since at least the Middle Ages and was used primarily for bronze work.

Electric Arc

Electric Arc furnaces are normally used in Industrial foundries. Most hobby casters do not use these furnaces due to cost, space issues, and a general inconvenience. There are two forms of the electric arc furnace, the direct and indirect.

The direct arc has three electrodes which are used to heat metal by way of the arc. This creates an incredible amount of heat and so water jackets and other cooling devices will be needed for operation.

The indirect arc just uses one electrode and works in much the same way as the direct arc furnace.

cupola furnace,

Electric Induction

Electric Induction furnaces are becoming all the more popular with large industrial size foundries that enjoy the clean burning and efficiency of an electrical furnace. Copper coils surround the crucible with the metal inside which can reach extremely high temperature suitable for melting most metals.

Rotary

The Rotary style furnaces are hailed for their ease of use being fully or at the very least partially automatic. These furnaces tend to be harder to construct though there are resources and companies online that sell rotary furnace.

The different furnace types do affect the quality of the work being produced, so it is important to keep that in mind as you cast. With a little trial and error, you should find the perfect furnace to fit your needs so you can start building one of your very own.
